The pandemic and resulting lockdowns have demanded a re-think of how businesses communicate externally with customers and suppliers; and internally among employees. Phone systems, call centres, and distributed worker collaboration tools have all needed to adapt to meet the 'anyone- anywhere-any device' collaboration urgently required. Access4 solutions allow organisations to shift swiftly and seamlessly to cloud-based communication and collaboration.  ## MobileCorp replaces legacy phone system with Access4 Hosted Voice solution Sometimes the proof is in the doing. At MobileCorp, the rolling lockdowns were the catalyst for a review of our on-premise legacy telephone system. We were managing with call forwarding and redirections but we also knew we were providing a fairly average experience for callers and lacked call data analytics to inform the business. However, Teams has now become critical to productivity. ,The uptake of Teams, which is part of the Microsoft 365 suite, has skyrocketed due to the Covid remote work shift. In the space of five weeks in March/April 2020, daily users jumped from 32 million to 75 million according to Statistica.   *MICROSOFT TEAMS DAILY USERS IN MILLIONS July 2019-April 2021* ![Microsoft Teams useage Statistica](https://www.mobilecorp.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Microsoft%20Teams%20useage%20Statistica.png?width=600&name=Microsoft%20Teams%20useage%20Statistica.png) Credit: [Statistica](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1033742/worldwide-microsoft-teams-daily-and-monthly-users/) However, Teams while quite brilliant for internal communication and collaboration, falls short as a totally unified communications platform due to its lack of a robust external calling feature. **Microsoft Teams does not have built-in telephony at its core.** Out-of-the box, Microsoft Teams supports the ability for users to make voice over IP (VoIP) calls from Teams client to Teams client, but does not allow calls outside of the Teams environment. For users to be able to call regular external phone numbers, a Microsoft licence upgrade is needed.
